Bad Habits – Break Free!

Aug 24, 2017

Cell 1 BlogStuck in old ways that don’t serve you? Take time to awaken your creativity and find a new way.

Sometimes the usual way of doing things can get in the way of seeing new solutions. You will recognise a bad habit when the things you used to do so well, no longer seem to work.

Try to see a problem from an outsider’s point of view and you may just discover the problem is less complicated than you thought.

Then take time to think about how you would like to adapt your behaviour to be more fitting to the new situation.

Remember creativity is about giving yourself permission to see things differently.

Richard Bandler says: “When you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you always got. So, if you want something different, do something different.’’

If you would like to work on this further, here are a few steps to follow:

  1. Think of the problem situation and try to sum it up in one sentence.
  2. Imagine you are with your best friend. This is a friend who has your best interest at heart. Consider what you think the advice might be?
  3. Of course friends can be a little biased, so now imagine you are taking advice from a very wise person. What would that be? You may find this a little tricky at first, so it is really important that you do not rush this step. Give yourself sufficient time for some answers to come bubbling up.
  4. Reflect on all the ‘advice’ and then plan a new course of action.

Myth-busting the HPV vaccine

FACT: Around 11 000 South African women are diagnosed with cervical cancer, with 5 900 dying of the disease every year.
